ibaby!- Baby Buccio Update- Week 27
Season's Greetings baby lovas!
Maya is now over 2lbs and the size of a MACbook laptop computer. Weird measurement, I know. But when I was reading the weekly growth email to Coco, I said to him, "She's literally the size of this laptop computer screen. It's 15 inches!" Hence, my ibaby. She's getting SO big and so are her kicks and movements in my ever growing belly (see pic above and btw, my belly button has no where else to go!). Watching the grooves in my stomach is very E.T and yet I love every second of it. My uterus is now the size of a basketball, which is fine as long as my face doesn't look like one. Let's put something into perspective here. Can you believe I have less than 13 weeks before Maya is born???? In 3 months, I will have a baby girl in my arms, under my roof, in a crib in the room which was formerly a guestroom. We will now be Buccio party of 3. When we fly, it will be two adults and one child. When we go out to eat, we will be three instead of two and I'll need one of those communal brown high chairs (those are so ugly.) And when we file our taxes, we will now have one dependent. How bananas! I was telling my bff Vivi that sometimes I stop and think to myself "there is a human baby inside of me right now." It's like I got the memo and I read it, but I need to keep re-reading it because either I forget or it hasn't registered!
Besides it being one of my favorite times of the year, today is one of my favorite baby updates because we have new photos of Lady M to show off! This is the reason you did not get your usual Monday treat. I wanted to wait one more day after we went to our 4D sonogram so that I could send some beauty shots of our beba. And boy, are we glad we did! Our bff, Javy, came along for the 4D experience and I think I can say he was blown away, as were we! What new things did we learn about Maya on this visit? Well, our baby girl is VERY active. She was constantly moving, flipping, turning, kicking her legs, fist pumping, and then she settled into her placenta pillow. This translates to a lot of work for her lazy mama. So based on energy alone, she's just like her papa. Another fun fact? She already has a ton of hair. Between Coco and I, we have a little Rupunzel in the works. I mean, have you seen Coco's hair?! He makes Patrick Dempsey look like a Rogaine commercial. (thanks for the hair genes Jorge!) And my personal source of pride, Maya is uber flexible! Don't believe me?? Take a look at the picture attached. Ladies and gentlemen, that is a leg. She can already kick her leg higher than her mother and possibly touch her toes. She's mastered downward facing dog, round off back handsprings, and side hurkeys. She also has long fingers. Do you know what this all means??? That I'm going to be the best stage mom EVER! Piano, cheerleading, gymnastics, hair model, and fly girl- there is no limit to the extracurricular activities Maya will be involved in. Crazy or proud?! I'm going to go with proud.
We got to watch her in her element for a good 15 minutes and every move she made was met with "ahh's, omg's, and she's so beautiful!". What really took our breath away was when she opened her eyes! I have to admit, my eyes welled up. It was so magical and surreal. So many things go through your head- "what made her open her eyes?" "does she hear me and know me?" "is she looking for me?" "what did she see?" Especially since she can now recognize her mama's voice! All I know, is that it was a terrific moment! Watching her yawn (see pic above) and rubbing her little hands across her face was also so unbelievable. I know that so many other babies also put on these little performances, but when it's your baby, it's like the world is seeing it for the first time. By the way, have you seen the lips on this beauty queen?! Angelina who?! I think her lips and nose are a mix of Coco and I! We were trying to decide who she looks like. We can't decide. I say its a good mix but a little more like Coco. Coco thinks she looks like me. Regardless, she's healthy and she's beautiful and that is all that matters!
Her room is almost done. Waiting on a couple of furniture pieces to complete the look and we have to hang some prints and artwork, which I will do when I become a lady of leisure. I'm so looking forward to time off to enjoy some alone time and enjoy the last trimester of my pregnancy. I want to savor every little moment because before you know it, she'll be making her grand entrance. I also booked her photographer this week for her newborn pictures, 6 months, Christmas, and 1st year! I didn't know how in demand baby photographers are and how quickly they book up! I am so excited to get her in front of a camera! She's going to be a ham!
Quick update on how I'm feeling. Overall, great. If you would have told me I would be enjoying being pregnant, I would have called you a liar and punched you in the face. Never did I expect to be so in love with the pregnancy journey. I feel very thankful and lucky to so far have had a fantastic pregnancy considering that my mother had a horrible pregnancy with me (which my grandmother likes to constantly remind me about) and hence why I am an only child. No prayers for other siblings changed that for me. Now, that's not saying I haven't had my share of complaints. (Remember the first trimester and my never ending nausea?) My only big complaint is my back. I definitely have some uncomfortable back pains. And this last week, I have felt firsthand the effects of sciatica. While at the museum in Amsterdam, my left leg fell asleep while standing up. Of course, I thought I was going to be paralyzed but once I came down from crazy land, I knew it had to be a nerve. And it was! The sharp pain and the numbness I've been feeling down my left leg is a product of sciatica. It's so not fun. Because of these back pains, sleep hasn't been the best. I'm still getting my beauty sleep but with lots of tossing and turning to find a comfortable spot. Sometimes I feel like an old woman when I need to push myself or ask Coco to help me up. It's kind of funny though. And without getting too graphic, hello hemorrhoids and unwanted flatulence you can't control! A not sexy side effect of pregnancy.
Well that's a wrap peeps! I hope you enjoyed this week's update as much as I did! Maybe next week I'll get Coco to do an update from a "dad's perspective". He seems to be learning a lot from the baby book he's reading! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends. So much to be thankful for!
MILF in training,
Kat
